Notes |
- In the Windemuth Family Heritage it states " Elizabeth Shackelton was a grand-daughter of Thomas and Nancy Robbins of England who were persons of considerable note. He was a man of letters and she was a lady in every sense of the word,
according to the standard of the time and place. Nancy Robbins wore the finest silks, purple and crimson corsets, and never on any occasion was known to engage in manual labor. When Elizabeth was married at age 18 she spread upon the grass
100 yards of fine white linen, the work of her own hands. Her mother-in-law then remarked to her, "Elizabeth, was it possible that you made all this linen yourself?""
- It is more likely that Elizabeth was a GREAT granddaughter of the Robbins, and her mother Mary Ogden was their granddaughter.
