Notes |
- Mahon Strawn, son of Hiram and Catherine Strawn married Polly but was divorced from her. They had one child who was born and died in infancy. He did not marry again. He went to live with his sister, Nancy in Niangua, Missouri. Supposedly Mahlon
and his younger brother were burned to death in a log cabin fire in 1900 but currently we are showing his brothers death date as 1906 which would make this impossible. The Winnebago County, Illinois History of 1877 lists Mahlon as a laborer. He
was a cooper by trade. Bert Limar Franklin, grandson of Nancy Strawn Franklin Watson says, the following came from Iowa to Niangua, Missouri, to get away from the cold winters in Iowa. They were Mr & Mrs Frank Watson (Nancy Strawn), Mr & Mrs
George Watson, Mr and Mrs Elijah Franklin and daughter, Hiram and Mahlon Strawn and William Wilson.
- "Mahlon and Hiram slept in a log cabin in the backyard on this place where we lived."
