- John Garey of Gillett, PA Was born July 25, 1925 in Wyalusing, PA, the son of the late John S. and Bertha (Garey) Wintermute, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2006, at his home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 81. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY, on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral Services honoring his life will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Charles Root will celebrate the services. Interment will follow in the Gillett Cemetery, where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Wintermute full Military Honors. Memorial donations may be directed to Guthrie Hospice Memorial Program Guthrie Square, Sayre, PA 18840.
