3301 My father, Rex Lewis, remembers Lizzie from when she was his Sunday School teacher. He is 85 and still has the little New Testament that she gave him. She must have made a big impression on him since he has been agnostic for at least the last 40 years. - Rebecca Lewis PUCKETT, Rebecca Elizabeth (Lizzie) (I103)

3302 My GGGrandmother was Hannah Homan daughter of Roseanna and Eber Homan of Fayette Co, Luzerne Twp, Pa. Roseanna died and Eber moved on the Prebble Co, Ohio. Hannah married my GGGRandfather Andrew Cox, Rosana (I16343)

3303 My Great-grandfather John A.Thompson married (1850) a Margaret Opdyke before he married my Great-grandmother. Among some old family papers I came across a letter written to Margaret Opdyke in 1879. The writer of this letter listed

"Cyrus Dunning was born in Connecticut in 1779 and in 1819 was married to Sally Wheeler, a sister of Johnson and Jesse Wheeler. They came to Clarksfield in 1833 and settled on a farm north of Rowland's corners, next to the Wakeman line. After a few years the youngest daughter, Sarah, died of consumption followed, in a few months by the mother who died in 1841 and sister, Mary, who died March 3 1842. This left Mr. Dunning with two sons, Oliver, 18, and Cyrus, 9 years of age. After a few years Oliver married Lucretia Wheeler and they kept house for Mr. Dunning until about 1845, when he married a widow Smith , of Wayne County, Ohio, who had several children, among whom were Orville P. and Lemuel, the latter of whom married Mary Rogers and died in Clarksfield. After some years Mr. and Mrs. Dunning became too old to take care of themselves and she went to live with some of her children in Norwalk, while he lived with his children. In 1854 the old lady died and Mr. Dunning went to Nebraska, with his sons. Cyrus Jr. had married Lucy Wheeler. The father and sons died in Nebraska."

"The American Genealogist" for the following information. Joab was a son of John Strawn (Jacob Lancelot) by his wife Kezia Dennis. John and Kezia were married in April 1770 at the Richland Meeting of Friends, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and
they subsequently settled in Greene County, Pennsylvania. Several of their children moved to Welland County, Ontario. Joab and later his family lived in Humberstone for some years but later moved to the London District. They subsequently
moved to Roscoe, Illinois, where Eve died 11 February 1852 and Joab died 30 September 1854.

3342 Named for his grandfather on his mothers side. Jacob Mains Wintermute and family moved to Muscatine County in 1855, and later to Iowa County, Iowa, where they remained until 1870. At that time he and his family moved to Saline County, Nebraska, near the town of Dorchester, and made that his home until he moved to the state of Washington, in 1886. The family during their various moves, has moved as a body. Preevious to his leaving New Jersey, he first lived near Stillwater, and later settled on a farm near La Fayette. That farm is now (1900) owned by Oliver B. Wintermute, of Branchville. They were the parents of a large family, eleven in all, being the same in number as his fathers family. In politics Jacob Mains was a Democrat, but latterly has been identified with the Prohabition Party. He and his wife were members of the M.E. Church. The mother died at Puyallup, Washington, in 1891. Jacob Mains then made his home at Lowell, with his son Austin and daughters Elizabeth and Luella. though he is past his four score, he has remained vigorous. Since writing the above Jacob Mains has died at Lowell, July 19, 1899, of Brights Disease. He was burried in Sumner Cemetery, near Puyallup. His age was 82 years, 4 months, and 17 days. Pictures of himself and his wife grace the pages of this work. WINTERMUTE, Jacob Mains (I425)

3346 Nancy Ann's birth record gives her maiden name as Catharine.  WISEHART, Catharine Elizabeth (I354)

3347 Nancy Strawn, daughter of Hiram and Catherine Strawn. Nancy was considered the angel of the family of 17 children. She not only cared for her father but had two of her brothers, Hiram and Mahlon, until they died. Elijah, Her first husband, died
while in the Civil War. They first lived in Winnebago County, Illinois then moved to Northeastern Iowa. But they left Iowa and removed to Missouri to get away from cold winters. They resided 6 1/2 miles southeast of Niangua, Missouri. Nancy
Strawn (Grandmother Watson as her family knew her) as we knew her lost 4 of her 6 children by typhoid fever. Her grandson, Bert Franklin, who was living in Springfield, Missouri in 1956, says, "We have a small table made by James Strawn for his
mother, Catherine Winemute, dated 1840; also a kitchen table they had when they lived in Canada and a bedspread made by Nancy Strawn Franklin from wool she raised. It is blue and white. She did the spinning and weaving, gathered rye straw and
made hates for her family and did all the cooking. We have a pair of mittens she knit, black with a red star on the back. She also traveled many miles on horseback to wait on the sick. No wonder she was called the 'Angel of the Family'."
