From letters from Lillie Werder Stump to Ruth Miller Moore:
..brought by her parents to Harrison County, Ohio when she was 3 years old. The Carsons had been there several years having moved there in 1810. They with the Moores came in covered wagons from Harrison in 1834 to Seneca. My Grandmother
(Mary Moore) was fourteen and Jack (Jackson Carson) was sixteen.
Luetta Schaftstall (hard to read Lillie's writing) is the 3rd and last child of Sarah Martha Carson and John Harter. The last 6 mos. or so of Grandfather Carson's life was spent in their home, 1887. He died of cancer of the liver in Nov. of
that year. In the spring of that year he sold his farm and (unknown looks like "chattels") and went to live with the Harters. This was 1 mile over the Seneca-Crawford Co Line in Crawford County about 2 mi from the Jack Carson farm. From then
on Grandmother Mary Ann visited round with her children. She happened to be at the home of Leonard and Hannah Ann Carson in Sept 1889 when she died. In Huron Co. along the Crawford Co line and 1 mile E. of Seneca Co. About 1 mile from your
mother's (that would be Eliza Agnes Carson) birthplace.
