2. | Jacob Sipes was born in 1730 in Dutchess Co., Rhinebeck, New York; died in 1776 in Macedonia Twp., Bradford Co, Pennsylvania. Notes:
From Thomas Cornell (tvcornel@netusa1.net)
There were two sons of Sylvanus Cornell who married daughters of Jacob Sipes. Son Enoch married Mary Sipes, and Aaron married Hannah Sipes. I presume the two families were neighbors but do not have any specific information.
Sylvanus came to Canada with his family around 1802 and bought land next to his brother Daniel in Beasley's Broken Front along the Grand River near Preston (now part of Cambridge). He remained there the rest of his life, and two sons stayed
there. The rest of his family, led by oldest son John A., went to the area of Sheffield in Beverly Twp. Enoch and Aaron were both members of John's church at Sheffield. Enoch and Mary are buried in the church cemetery. Brother Aaron and his
family joined the movement westward to Lambton Co., but they stopped in Middlesex Co., west of London. They are buried in Lambeth where a son of my Gabriel Cornell lies. Did these possible cousins attract Aaron to stop there? Unknown.
Jacob married Hannah Schauer (Showers) in Bradford Co., Pennsylvania. Hannah (daughter of Johann Adam Schauer and Maria Elizabeth Fritz) was born in 1736/1737 in Teerbosch, Athens, New York. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
