- My Dad (Rex Owen Lewis) loved and admired his cousin so much! Paul was the coolest guy Rex knew. The Lewis family were small town hicks. Paul and his mom lived in a big city. Paul's mother (Great Aunt Elsie) worked in a fine department store and always dressed fabulously. Paul, her only child, was always dressed in expensive clothes as well. even when he went to visit his cousins in the country.
When Paul got a job in insurance, he talked some family members into getting insurance. They gave him the payment every month. Then when they needed it, they found out that Paul had just been pocketing their money and they didn't have policy to use.
Once when Dad was reminiscing fondly about Paul, I said," But Dad, Paul was a jerk and and crook." Dad so looked sad and agreed that Yes, Paul was a crook.
But he was a con man.
The extended family felt bad that they never go to see Chrissy and didn't know what happened to her. However, they understood why Marge took her away from Paul and Elsie.
