Melvin's parents were James Archibald Miller (born in Meshoppen) and Emma Diantha Carney (born in Keiserville). James' parents were Jacob Miller and Sarah
Morehouse (from Washington Township). Jacob's parents were Christopher Miller and Ruby Rogers (from Connecticut, Auburn, N.Y., and Wyoming County.)
This line goes back to Thomas Hardy, one of the founding pilgrims of Ipswitch, Mass. One of the Rogers (my g-g-g-g-grandfather)
was in the revolutionary army.
The Miller line is English-Scot-Irish.
Melvin married Emma Louise Miller. Emma (daughter of Jesse Orluf Miller and Blanche Adelia Wintermute) was born on 21 May 1925; died on 29 Jan 1999. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

| 6. | Jesse Orluf Miller was born on 21 May 1882 in Russell Hill, Pennsylvania; died in Apr 1940. Notes:
His parents were James A. Miller and Emma Dianthia Carney. James A. Miller was in the 198th Volunteers during the Civil War. I have the roster of the company he was in (Company H). Interestingly, this company fought the Peninsula Campaign.
The Battle of Deer Run was fought about two miles from my house. The company also fought at Weldon Railroad, one of the toughest battles of the final year of the war. It mustered out in Philadelphia in 1864.
I'd be happy to send the roster to anybody who wants to look it over.

According to Mary Adelia's great great niece, Jean Slinghuff: "Aunt Delia (as my Mother called her) was the one killed in an accident when the bridge they were crossing broke. My grandparents were with them huckleberry picking."
Jean -> her mother,Alta and Uncle Paul Ward -> her grandparents were Willis and Leona Ward. Willis was the brother to Nellie, Nora, Frank, and Mary Adelia Ward. --from an email, February 2009
